Website analysis and competitor reviews helped us decide how we wanted to take the new website visually. We have worked with a lot of the main web platforms previously, but we felt Squarespace was the best solution for Wedding Day Photos. Squarespace provides contemporary design templates (with varying degrees of personalisation), secured with a platform which is easy to update content and manage. The template selected needed to allow maximum design control – including the ability to change all fonts, colours and the option to build each page from scratch.
The old site hosted an abundance of imagery on each page. This often minimises the initial impact, so we went with BIG imagery to sit alongside simplistic typography which was in keeping with the branding and allowed each image to have impact. We wanted to strike a balance between the use of image and text across all pages as this allowed us to inject personality with each wedding having text to tell the story of the special day. There is a cohesive aesthetic, which flows throughout and works responsively across desktop, mobile and tablet.
In addition to all the design benefits, Squarespace is intuitive and easy to use as an administrator. Being able to quickly upload new images to your portfolio or make a blog post to document each wedding is a must for our client who now wants to be able to present weddings on the go.
Wedding Day Photos stressed the importance of the site being user friendly and having a feature which allows the user to click on a wedding story, then having links to navigate to other weddings at the same location / venue. Another useful feature is the tracking feature which is built in with the business profile on Squarespace. This gives you the ability to see what your visitors are clicking on and how they are spending their time on the site.
The site is already performing well with Wedding Day Photos seeing an uplift of 50% on the number of enquiries compared year on year with the previous site.
