Overview

New clothing brand, Harkel create fun fashions with a feminine twist. Their style is recognisable for its penchant for cute prints and popping colours- think modern meets retro! They were in need of lifestyle photography and ecommerce images which captured the spirit of their outfits to launch their brand to the world.
'The service provided by Ed and the team was exceptional. I've worked with many photographers and Ed is the first to go above and beyond to make sure the project runs smoothly. The images have come out just as we expected and most importantly, on brand! Thank you Contrast for your help on this project!'
Mat Brown, Head of eCommerce Operations, Harkel

Say hello to Harkel! The brand new fashion company that’s ready to take the market by storm. Ourselves and HighContrast worked together on this project to bring Harkel’s vision to life.

We were asked to create campaign imagery for their full new product range which hosts around 140 different garments. They also needed high quality, detailed ecommerce images, essential for selling online directly to consumers.

Lifestyle photography

Manchester was chosen for the campaign shoot due to the variety of colourful and interesting backgrounds available. We scouted a number of locations to find the best scenes with bold vibrant backgrounds that would complement the garments.

We wanted the locations to become an extension of each different look so it was crucial that we got the image to look as bold and daring as the outfit combinations themselves. Drawing inspiration from the clothes themselves, we found locations which also inhabited bold vernacular patterns. We worked closely with our fashion stylist and the client to achieve each statement look.

We shortlisted around 15 different locations around Manchester City Centre. We spent two full days shooting the lifestyle images with 4 models.

Ecommerce

In addition to the lifestyle photography, Harkel also needed shots of all 140 garments to show in greater detail shot in our Manchester studio.

These images would be used to sell the items so it was important that they maintain the look and personality of the brand whilst giving a true representation of the style, fit, colour and detail of each garment. Our fashion stylist worked closely with the client to build the looks and match with accessories.

In our view

The brief gave us creative freedom and we thoroughly enjoyed the planning that went into these shoots. The client asked us that we gave him radiant-happy images, breaking the mould of moody fashion vibe. We fully got on board with this playful look and are really happy with the images.
