Coriander Packaging Design

Back

Brief

Leading Indian catering and events company, Coriander, approached us for help with their food packaging design. They had just agreed a deal with Selfridges to feature in their Food Hall at the Trafford Centre and they needed some creative food packaging design for their wraps, meal pots and lassi drinks. Having been trading as an exclusive events and catering company for over 20 years, they had a reputation for culinary excellence with an unprecedented attention to detail and quality. As a result it isn’t unheard of for them to cater for in excess of 1000 people at events across the country for celebrities, footballers and politicians. They wanted to ensure that the packaging design reflected their innovative nature and creative flare. We also had to be conscious of the less exciting nature of food packaging design – food labeling and packaging regulations!

Solution

We decided upon clear bottles and labels for the lassi drink so the customer could clearly see the product. When we looked at the label we decided to further help the communication of ingredients by using complimentary colours per flavour variant. The simple stickers ensured it was easy for both customers and servers to know what each product contained. The use of a a script font, teamed with the sans serif font Coriander use throughout their branding worked well to add a friendly personality to a normally exclusive product.

Food packaging can become a laborious task as there are a head of regulations and pitfalls. Luckily, with our experience of producing food packaging, we knew what had to be included making the whole creative and artworking process run smoothly.

After a successful launch, Coriander and are now in talks with Selfridges to expand to other stores across the country.
