Photography, Print Campaign & Media Buying

As 2010 drew to a close, Contrast Creative took on a brief from food giant Del Monte. They needed a concept shooting, print ad’s artworking and media placement managed, ready for January when the nation once again seeks out some healthier indulgence after all that festive excess.

The product was all about great taste, without the guilt, and the client wanted a look that screamed fresh, healthy lifestyles. Contrast Creative managed the entire process form start to finish, from planning the shoot through to placing the ad’s. The shoot was directed by our good friend Matt O’Connor and shot by photographers High Contrast.

The campaign is currently running in a range of popular national women’s magazines such as Grazia and OK and will continue throughout January.

Singer/Musician

We were recently approached by singer/songwriter Fiona Ford who needed some help with her branding, album artwork & photography as well as a social media strategy. We were happy to oblige and well placed to take this on varied task. As a full-service agency we have the benefit of being able to offer a vast range of creative services, from photography to coding, whilst keeping all work in-house.

In collaboration with the artist, Fiona, we honed into a specific style for the album artwork, before getting into the studio to bank some solid images that we could use as the back bone of the album visuals. Working with these we created a clean, cohesive design that pulled together all of the necessary copy without making things look too busy.

When it came to social media, we struck upon the idea of using Facebook as a platform from which to sell records. The key to making this work however was finding a way to make to purchasing and distribution process as simple as possible. Our solution to this was to create a custom tab that houses a Flash based console which allows visitors to view album information, listen to sample tracks and purchase either a full album or individual songs with ease. Payment is made via PayPal to keep the entire process as simple and secure as possible. The beauty of this system is that it keeps the artist in full control of their distribution process and sidesteps the fee’s associated through other channels such as iTunes. At the same time, any fans of the artist can quickly and easily preview and purchase the artists music with just a few clicks.

Time-Lapse Photography

We were approached by Didsbury Life about documenting this years West Fest; a celebration of the local businesses and residents that make West Didsbury such a thriving community. We were more than happy to get involved, being based in the heart of West Didsbury ourselves. It was a great day in the end. Swathes of people came down, the weather was beautiful and there was a brilliant atmosphere.

We filmed the time-lapse on two stills cameras over the course of a full day of festivities, taking over 14,000 frames which were duly edited down into this concise little video. What’s great about it is the fact that it’s filmed in West Didsbury, by photographers based in West Didsbury, with a soundtrack by a great band called The Gypsies of Bohemia… who just happen to reside in West Didsbury. It’s so neat it’s practically got a bow around it!

Contrast Creative recently contributed a series of images to an exhibition called ‘Hearing Unheard Voices’. The photographs were created in conjunction with Liverpool’s YWCA and show the prejudice that young girls experience when falling pregnant.

The exhibition runs from 13th March to 25th April 2010 at The Public, West Bromich.

A thought provoking set of installations by young people from around the UK and Sandwell. Designed to coincide with UKYouth’s national initiative of the same name to train young people in the skills to campaign for their rights, especially young refugees, carers, homeless and those from other sections of society who do not normally have their voices heard.
